Abstract

Max Weber merupakan seorang sosiolog dan filsuf terkenal yang mempelajari berbagai fenomena sosial, termasuk pendidikan. Dalam pandangan Weber, pendidikan merupakan bagian dari proses sosialisasi yang penting dalam membentuk karakter seseorang. Namun, Weber juga memandang bahwa pendidikan tidak hanya berfungsi untuk memperoleh pengetahuan dan keterampilan, tetapi juga untuk membentuk kepribadian dan nilai-nilai budaya yang penting dalam kehidupan sosial. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji secara literatur pemikiran Max Weber tentang pentingnya pendidikan berbudaya. Maka untuk memenuhi tujuan ini, digunakan sumber karya paling penomenal dari Max Weber yakni “The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism” dan didukung oleh karya lain Max Weber termasuk karya ahli lain  dan rujukan lain yang relevan dengan pembahasan. Sedangkan metode yang digunakan adalah library research. Selanjutnya dari analisis yang dilakukan menurut Max Weber, pendidikan berbudaya memiliki dua aspek utama, yaitu: Pertama, individu yang kreatif, individu yang memiliki tanggung jawab sosial;  Kedua, perlunya nilai-nilai budaya dan etika dalam pengembangan pendidikan. Sehingga penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Max Weber menjadikan etika dan budaya sebagai penuntun dalam mengembangkan pendidikan.
